Crime has risen by 2% on Lanzarote in the first six months of the year, according to statistics from police sources.
As usual the most populated municipality, Arrecife saw the most reported crimes with 1,299, although crime in the capital has fallen by almost 8% compared with the same period last year.
Tías, however, saw a 20% increase in crime, with significant increases in theft and burglary. The 24% increase in theft on the island in general is largely responsible for the overall rise in crime.
There were significant decreases in rape, sexual assault, drug dealing offences and cybercrime on the island.
