Teguise Ayuntamiento announced yesterday the installation of a new “intelligent” zebra crossing system in one of the busiest parts of Costa Teguise.

The new crossing, equipped with sensors and LED signaling, is automatically activated when detecting the presence of people, increasing visibility and safety, especially at night or in low light.

Teguise Mayor, Olivia Duque, stated that the installation is “a step towards a safer, accessible and innovative town”.

Local Police and Traffic Councillor, Ginés González, stressed the commitment of Teguise Ayuntamiento to road safety and its commitment to technological solutions that protect people’s lives.

Finally, Roads and Works Councillor, Eugenio Robayna, added that the long-term vision of this initiative that marks the beginning of a line of improvements that will be implemented progressively throughout the municipality.

Teguise Ayuntamiento is already working on identifying new strategic points to install the “intelligent” crossings elsewhere in the municipality.
