Correos has issued a warning about a noticeable increase in phishing attempts. This form of cybercrime involves fraudulent emails that imitate official communications from the postal company, with the aim of stealing personal or banking details. These deceptive messages often refer to outstanding payments, fees or delivery problems.

Phishing emails typically replicate the corporate design of Correos to appear legitimate. The risk is particularly high when you are expecting a parcel, as the fake messages may request sensitive information or direct you to bogus websites.

To help the public distinguish genuine communications from fraudulent ones, Correos offers its Email Verifier tool. By entering the email address and the alphanumeric code found at the bottom of the message, users can check whether an email was truly sent by Correos. If the system does not return an “OK”, it could be a phishing attempt. The tool is available at:

The growth of e-commerce has increased the chances of receiving fake shipment notifications. To avoid falling victim to fraud, Correos recommends keeping the following points in mind:

  • Correos never requests personal, banking or confidential information by email.
  • All legitimate communications are sent from correos@correos.com.
  • Every shipping or parcel email from Correos includes a security code. If there is no code, the email is not from Correos.
  • Always verify suspicious emails using the official Correos tool.
  • Visit the Correos website or contact Customer Service if you have any doubts.
