Arrecife Mayor, Yonathan de León, has posted some pictures of Christmas decorations that have been installed in the capital, in preparation for the light switch on this Friday.

On Facebook, de León, wrote “Christmas is approaching. There are five weeks left until the arrival of the most awaited celebration in all families. Arrecife is getting ready for the Christmas switch on, which will be very special, on Friday 29th November. On the eve of the descent of the Virgen de Los Dolores to our city.

The commercial sector of Arrecife is illuminated in a special way for the Christmas festivities. Last night I had the opportunity to greet the shopkeepers and workers of the Open Mall, and their management team. I was invited to participate in the lighting. I was able to arrive after other municipal engagements last night.

The Open Mall has given us two positive news for Arrecife and Lanzarote: they have been awarded as the best Shopping Centre in Spain during this 2024. And its owners have announced that they are already working on the extension of the centre. They will build on the adjoining plot where the old Ojeda factory used to be, and then the HiperDino. They have the extension project.

The neighbourhoods of Valterra, Los Alonso, Altavista, Titerroy and El Lomo have more boom with the synergies of a big shopping centre in their area.”

CHRISTMAS LIGHT SWITCH ON

Arrecife’s Christmas light switch-on will take place this Friday, November 29th, along the newly renovated Playa de El Reducto seafront.

The event will start at 7pm and, aside from the switch-on, there will also be musical performances and lots of Christmas spirit.
