Lanzarote’s Cabildo yesterday presented cheques worth €31,500 to seven charities on Lanzarote. Each charity received €4,500.

The money was raised during the Saborea Lanzarote food fair in Teguise last month, in which all of the charities participated.

The charities are LanzaroTEA, which supports people on the autistic spectrum; Creciendo Yaiza, which works with children with special needs; TribArte, which helps to integrate young unaccompanied migrants; Más Familia, which also assists children that have been in care;  Lanzarote’s Rotary Club, which supports several volunteer initiatives; La Vida Zuaina, which works with vulnerable children; and the Pelargos parents’ association at Los Geranios school, which organizes extra-curricular activities for disadvantaged children.

Cabildo President Oswaldo Betancort praised the charities for “improving the welfare and quality of life of the people of Lanzarote.”
