The number of vehicles on Lanzarote continues to increase, with 136,787 motor vehicles registered on the island – the highest figure in history.
With 400 new vehicles registered each month, the total of vehicles is predicted to reach 140,000 at some point next year. This for a population of 156,000, of whom 87,000 hold valid driving licences.
91,000 of the vehicles are petrol powered, while 44,000 run on diesel. Electric cars and hybrids account for a tiny amount of the total – just 0.45%, or 613 vehicles.
