The audiovisual sector in the Canary Islands has reached new heights, providing direct employment to more than 20,000 people and attracting €432 million in direct investment during 2025.
The record figures were confirmed during a meeting in Madrid, where regional officials and industry leaders gathered to reinforce the Islands’ position as a powerhouse for film and television production.
Alfonso Cabello, Deputy Minister of the Presidency and President of Proexca, met with Canary Islands Audiovisual professionals in the Spanish capital.
The primary goal of the meeting was to highlight the unique conditions offered by the Canary Islands as a driving force for the development of the audiovisual industry, with a view to continuing to attract new projects to the region.
Discussions focused on analysing the experiences of mainland production companies that have worked in the Canary Islands. The gathering also served as a forum for dialogue to explore the role the Canary Islands play in film production, the opportunities they offer, and potential ways to foster new avenues of collaboration.
Speaking after the meeting, Alfonso Cabello highlighted the successes the audiovisual sector is achieving in the Canary Islands, noting that it is one of the leading strategic sectors and a spearhead of the islands’ economic diversification.
The 2025 figures once again set records: €432 million in direct investment, more than 20,000 direct jobs, 180 productions, and 369 secured leads representing potential future projects.
