The Canarian Minister of Energy and Ecological Transition has urged Lanzarote’s Cabildo to sort out the problem of queues at Timanfaya.
“It is of vital importance that the Islote del Hilario is a place of observation and enjoyment, without crowds, where a change of the visiting model cannot be put off any longer,” said Mariano Zapata on Friday.
Zapata said that he hoped that the Cabildo would propose solutions such as electronic booking and parking “soon”.
Proposals to operate shuttle buses from Mancha Blanca have been repeatedly proposed, without any progress. Meanwhile, the LZ-67 road resembles a car park at peak hours as scores of vehicles wait to enter the Fire Mountains.
