Lanzarote and the rest of the Canaries are on yellow alert for calima conditions this Saturday.
The warning was issued by Spain’s weather agency AEMET and runs from 9 am this morning until midnight. Visibility will fall below 5,000 metres and may well go below 3,000 metres.
A yellow alert is the lowest warning level, with citizens advised to stay informed about conditions and possibly reconsider certain activities that may be affected by the weather.
Those classed as vulnerable (such as small children, the elderly, people suffering from respiratory conditions) are advised to stay indoors with the windows closed during calimas.
