AEMET has issued a yellow warning for a calima (suspended dust particles in the atmosphere) on Lanzarote today.

The alert lasts from midday to 8pm, with visibility predicted to be reduced to 3,000 metres, meaning that this is not one of the more serious calima incidents. Yellow alerts are the lowest level of alert.

The official recommendations during calimas are not to leave home unless necessary, avoid exercise in the open air and keep doors and windows closed. This advice is especially important for vulnerable groups, such as the elderly or those who suffer from respiratory conditions.
