Ángel Vázquez, head of Lanzarote’s Tourism Board, has announced that income for the CACTs (Centres of Art, Cultures and Tourism) increased by 38% in the first quarter of the year, despite a fall of 5% in visitor numbers.
The rise in income can be attributed to the steep rise in entrance fees for the CACTs, which was introduced at the start of the year, meaning that the centres took more than 12.4 million Euros, compared to 9 million in the equivalent period last year.
“These figures reflect the shrewdness of a measure that will allow us to generate more wealth for Lanzarote while simultaneously reducing the pressure on the works of Manrique,” said Vázquez.
Vázquez also stated that online ticket sales had increased by 15%, and pre-booking was proving to be successful in reducing queues.
