Cabildo to fund cable burial at Femes

The Cabildo has announced that it will provide €18.5 million towards burying electrical cables on the heights of Femes.

Burying cables from the seven-kilometre stretch between Maciot and Las Casitas de Femes will prevent the visual impact of several pylons running through the Natural Monument of Los Ajaches.

Pylons will still be erected between Playa Blanca and Maciot, and Las Casitas de Femes and Macher, as part of a project to double the power capacity of the south of the island.

The Cabildo stated that it is now the responsibility of Yaiza Ayuntamiento to come to agreements with the landowners who will be affected by the project.
