The Cabildo is continuing with its coastal clean-up employment plan, aimed at the care, maintenance and beautification of the island. Thanks to the work completed so far, they have removed over 60 tonnes of waste from the island’s coastline.

Cabildo President, Oswaldo Betancort, underlined the importance of the plan “which not only seeks to improve the image and aesthetics of Lanzarote, but also has a direct impact on the employability of the local population. This cleaning is essential to preserve the natural beauty of our island and reinforces our commitment to maintain sustainability and care in Lanzarote.”.

The Cabildo’s councillor for employment, Ascensión Toledo, stated that “his project takes care of Lanzarote and has an impact on the island’s economy, especially in sectors that promote sustainability and respect for our environment.”.

At the time of writing a total of 23 people have been hired in the program, including a foreman, three drivers and nineteen labourers. The work is being carried out by Activa Lanzarote with a budget of 1.7 million euros.
