An immensely detailed book about César Manrique’s life and work has been published by the Cabildo.
Titled “César Manrique: 100 years of Living Memory”, the book has been written by Francisco Galante, Professor of Art History at the University of La Laguna in Tenerife.
His three-volume, 1,000-page work is in Spanish and English and contains hundreds of photos and images covering Manrique’s life from his school reports to his studies in Madrid, his period in New York and, of course, his return to his native island in 1966, when he transformed Lanzarote.
Unfortunately, the book is not yet available to buy – an initial print run of 1,000 copies will be distributed free of charge to libraries, schools and cultural centres.
