Lanzarote’s Cabildo observed a minute’s silence in honour of the victims of gender-based violence yesterday.
This year, 739 people have been attended by the various resources dedicated to helping victims of gender violence on the island. Of those, 117 women and children required temporary accommodation.
A march against gender violence took place along Calle Real in Arrecife later in the afternoon, and the events followed a weekend which had seen more than 800 people take part in a 3-kilometre race to raise funds and increase awareness of the issue.
