Lanzarote is preparing for a busy weekend, with several big events taking place on the island.
The biggest event will be the Saborea Lanzarote food festival in Teguise on Saturday and Sunday, which is expected to attract up to 35,000 visitors. Teguise’s security councillor has confirmed that road closures for the event will be similar to those that take place every Sunday for the regular market, and that the parking places that are used for the market will be free on Saturday.
Extra buses will be laid on from Arrecife and will take passengers to the coach stop area outside Teguise’s Health Centre (from the stop IN FRONT of the Arrecife bus station.) On Saturday, buses will be hourly from, 10am to 9pm on Saturday, with a final route at 11pm, returning at midnight.
On Sunday, buses will leave Arrecife station at 10:00, 12:00, 13:00, 13:30, 14:00, 15:00, 15:30, 16:00,17:00, 17:30, 19:00 and 19:30. , and a return journey will take place an hour after these times.
The weekend will also see the La Santa Night Run at La Santa on Saturday evening; the 44th Rallye Orvecame Lanzarote around Tías and the Artistic Skating Cup at Teguise’s Sports Pavilion.
Meanwhile, thousands of cruise tourists are expected in Arrecife and elsewhere, with the arrival of three huge floating hotels at Puerto de los Marmoles and Puerto Naos.
