Emergency services were called to Papagayo yesterday to rescue a man who had slipped on rocks and sprained a leg.
Difficulties in accessing the area meant that firemen reached the victim using a jet-ski, on which he was transported to Playa de las Mujeres and taken from there to hospital in an ambulance.
Shortly afterwards, a call was received from la Santa, where a surfer had been reported as losing consciousness. When firemen arrived, the surfer had been rescued by other surfers and had regained consciousness. He was taken to hospital in an ambulance.
