The Cabildo president and Tías mayor have highlighted the importance of British tourism to Lanzarote and La Graciosa at the World Travel Market in London this week.

The fair arrives at a time when Lanzarote is receiving more British tourists than at any other time in its history, with the Canaries the only Spanish region to have improved the number of British visitors upon pre-pandemic levels.

At the World Travel Market, the Tías Mayor stressed “the enormous importance” of British tourism to Puerto del Carmen and Tías, “so I think, on behalf of our community, that they choose us as one of their favourite destinations to enjoy on holiday.”.

Cabildo President, Oswaldo Betancort, also highlighted that the United Kingdom “represents an important economic engine for the tourism sector of both Lanzarote and La Graciosa. We are aware of the number of local families that depend on the British market, so it is essential to continue promoting our brand at fairs like this.”

LA GRACIOSA REPRESENTED

For the first time in its history, at the 44th edition of the World Travel Market, La Graciosa will be represented this week.

“We have fought hard for the presence of the two islands in tourism fairs like this one”, stated Betancort, who congratulated Turismo Canarias for making it possible.
