The body of a 73-year-old German man was discovered last night at his home in San Bartolomé.
Emergency services forced entry to the premises after neighbours had reported that the man was not answering the door and had not been seen for days.
On entry, it appeared that the man had suffered from Diogenes syndrome, a condition marked by compulsive hoarding. The man’s body was discovered beneath a heap of belongings.
Judicial police and an undertaking company removed the body.
