The Canaries is the Spanish region with the fewest bank offices per person, according to figures from the Bank of Spain.

There are 619 bank office on the islands – less than half of the figure of just over a decade ago, in 2012. This means that there is one bank office for every 3,653 inhabitants of the islands, the worst coverage in Spain.

The figure is even worse in the Las Palmas province that contains Lanzarote, where there are more than 4,000 people for each bank.
