The incident began with a person approaching a group asking for the return of a stolen device. After insisting for its return, the person retrieved the stolen item. Afterwards, one member of the group pulled out a large knife and threated to kill the person asking for the stolen item.
The victim quickly ran away and reported it to the National Police by telephone. Three units quickly arrived at the scene and took statements from both the victim and a nearby security guard. Despite identifying the perpetrator, they unfortunately lost sight of them in a pursuit.
With the use of Arrecife’s surveillance system, local police were able to scan footage to find where the perpetrator had run to. After spotting them on the footage they informed the units on the streets who were then able to locate the perpetrator.
A citizen noticed the perpetrator running and attempted to stop them, however, the perpetrator pulled out their knife again and threatened the citizen.
