Arrecife celebrated its Day Carnival yesterday with a parade, a food fair and a concert in the Parque Ramirez Cerda.
Hundreds of costumed revellers turned up for an event that has become an increasingly popular element of the carnival celebrations.
Events will continue today with a dog fancy dress competition in the Parque Islas Canaries at 5pm and a display of comparsas (dancing groups) at the Recinto Ferial at 8.30pm.
The Grand Parade will take place tomorrow, leaving the Ciudad Deportiva sports ground at 6pm and heading towards the Recinto Ferial. Anyone planning on wearing a skimpy costume will be pleased to know that the weather forecast is for fine weather and a slight rise in temperatures to between 16 and 19 degrees.
Motorists should be aware that traffic in Arrecife is likely to be affected by events for the next few days.
