Arrecife Ayuntamiento are considering demolishing the warehouse at the entrance to Arrecife, near the Intercambiador, after part of its roof collapsed today.
If you have taken the bus to Arrecife and gotten off at the Intercambiador on the seafront, you will have walked past the “Los Betancores” warehouse that is situated between the first two apartment buildings in front of Arrecife’s beach.
The warehouse, owned by Arrecife Ayuntamiento, has been in disrepair for years and this isn’t the first time that a part of its crumbling roof has fallen to the ground. Luckily, no one was inside at the time and fire fighters arrived at the warehouse today to secure and other loose parts of the roof.
There is nothing inside of the warehouse apart from some old sailing boats.
Arrecife Ayuntamiento has been considering demolishing the warehouse for safety reasons. Mayor, Yonathan de León, announced that a study will be conducted to declare the sailboats in a state of ruin and to allow for the demolition of the building to avoid future incidents.
