Arrecife is expecting more than 50,000 spectators to gather this Sunday, July 19th, for a giant public screening of Spain’s World Cup final against Argentina, which will be shown on a large screen in the area surrounding the city’s Parque Temático.
The decision follows the huge turnout for Tuesday’s semifinal against France, when thousands of fans packed the area to support La Roja. The event was organised by the council’s Sports, Tourism and Commerce departments in collaboration with the Lava Live Festival.
Following Spain’s 2-0 victory over France, Mayor Yonathan de León praised the atmosphere created by supporters and confirmed that the same arrangements will be repeated for Sunday’s final.
According to the council, Tuesday’s event passed without incident, highlighting both the large attendance and the festive, respectful behaviour of those present.
Among those attending the public screening were Mayor Yonathan de León, Sports, Tourism and Commerce Councillor Eli Merino, Safety and Emergencies Councillor Kevin Cortés, and other members of the municipal government.
Spain booked its place in the final with its win over France and will now face Argentina, following their win over England last night.
