Port Authority Police at Arrecife are considering legal action against the city’s Local Police, who they claim have fined them up to eleven times for turning the blue lights of their vehicle on.
The squabble has led to situations in which Las Palmas Port Authority Police vehicles have been pulled over by Local Officers and their agents even threatened with arrest.
The dispute apparently stems from a disagreement about which roads the Port Police are authorised to patrol, and the Local Police’s belief that it is illegal for Port Police to turn their blue V3 lights on while patrolling roads that are not within their remit.
