Arrecife crowned its carnival queen on Thursday night. The winner was Aynara Elvira, who showed off a costume titled “You Can Feel It In The Air”
The costume, created by Rafa Denis and Rosa Montesdeoca, was inspired by the green lake at El Golfo, and featured thousands of feathers dyed olivina-green.
Gara Toledo won the title of Children’s Queen in a Chinese-inspired creation by Pedro Vizcaíno titled “The imperial Fire Flower”.
The competition took place at the Recinto Ferial in Arrecife, and featured an appearance by King Africa, whose La Bomba was a global hit in 1999 and who filmed the video for party anthem Salta on Lanzarote.
