Arrecife Carnival celebrations leave 720 kilos of rubbish

The start of Arrecife’s Carnival celebrations has seen 720 kilos of rubbish left behind on the streets last Sunday morning.

As reported on the Residuos Lanzarote Facebook page, 720 kilograms of waste was collected including metal cans, plastic cups, takeaway boxes, bags, cigarettes and tissue paper.

They also expressed their thanks to Arrecife’s municipal cleaning service, “thanks guys and girls, they did a spectacular job of sweeping and cleaning.”.

Other pages on Instagram picked up on Residuos Lanzarote’s post asking that parties not be used as an excuse to leave rubbish behind, and that it costs nothing to discard of rubbish in the proper containers.
