Armando Santana appointed to Lanzarote Cabildo

Cabildo President Oswaldo Betancort has appointed the councillor Armando Santana to the island government.

Santana had been serving as an independent councillor after leaving Nueva Canarias, the party he had represented for several years, last August.  He will assume the third Vice Presidency of the Cabildo and take over the areas of Commerce, Consumer Affairs, Civic Participation, Open Government, and Animal Welfare.

Santana’s appointment will reinforce the slender majority of Betancort’s ruling group in the island government.
