Lanzarote Cabildo has ordered the establishment of a Joint All-Island Taxi Zone to avoid taxi shortages over the Christmas period.
The ruling will last from the 22nd of December until the 7th of January and will permit taxis to operate outside of their municipalities, picking up all over the island. It will also allow taxis from other municipal areas to pick up from the airport and cruise port when local vehicles are not available.
Other areas of the island will also see non-local taxis permitted to reinforce local services at times of great demand.
Cabildo president Oswaldo Betancort said, “We want to ensure that all citizens, residents or visitors, can enjoy the festive season in comfort and safety, while supporting the taxi sector, which is essential for mobility and tourism on our island.”
