Bus drivers whose routes serve the César Manrique airport have complained that private vehicles are continually occupying the bus parking zone at the lower concourse of Terminal 1.

La Voz de Lanzarote reports that the bus drivers complain that “nothing can be done” to resolve the current situation and have called for the Cabildo, the Ayuntamiento of San Bartolomé, Intercity Bus and AENA to arrange alternative parking for private pickups.

Bus drivers pulling up at the bus stop regularly have to sound their horns to get parked vehicles to move, and passengers occasionally have to step into the road to board buses.

Another suggested solution is to adapt the platforms on the upper level for access by buses.

A ban on private vehicles accessing the lower arrivals area was introduced in 2021 but appears to have been widely ignored.
