For far too many years, pedestrians walking along the seafront promenade between Playa del Jablillo and Playa Bastian in Costa Teguise have had to endure a strong whiff of sewage as they pass a sewage pumping installation located 100 metres from the Villa Toledo restaurant.
Now, finally, the island’s water council has decided to address the situation, earmarking €32,000 for works that will renovate and improve the pumping station.
A project is expected to be completed by the middle of the year, after which the works will be placed out to contract. Once the competition is decided, the winning bidder will have a period of three months to complete the works.
