Teguise Ayuntamiento has approved a motion to review the fencing off of one of the worst examples of abandoned hotels in Costa Teguise.

Parcel 216, which lies between the resort’s two main roads of Avenida de las Palmeras and the Avenida del Mar, was described by Socialist councillor Marcos Bergáz as a zone of “high risk.”

“It’s a high-rise building, with sinkholes and embankments five or six metres deep. All of this in one of the busiest areas of Costa Teguise,” he stated.

Bergaz said that the eyesore was “a wound and an example of the illegal planning that Teguise’s main tourist resort, with more than 50 years of history, still suffers.”

The owners of the hotel have been issued with a request to take action.
