84-year-old man dies at Mancha Blanca fair

An 84-year-old man from Arrecife choked to death at one of the food stalls at the Mancha Blanca fair yesterday evening.

The death occurred at 6.40 pm despite attempts by people at the stall and health workers on the scene to resuscitate the man, who came from Arrecife.

Jesús Machín, the Mayor of Tinajo, later took to the big stage and announced that the victim’s family had approved that the Rosana concert, which many had arrived in Mancha Blanca for, was to go ahead. A minute’s silence was held and the fireworks that traditionally close the fiesta were cancelled.
