70-year-old rescued after fall in Los Ajaches

A 70-year-old man was rescued by emergency helicopter after falling in Los Ajaches, the wild volcanic region that stretches from Playa Quemada to Papagayo.

Emergency services were notified at around 2 pm and diagnosed a possible fracture of the ankle.

After stabilising the victim, who was unable to walk, the assistance of a helicopter was requested owing to the inaccessibility of the terrain. The man was airlifted to the airport, where an ambulance transferred him to the Dr Jose Molina Orosa Hopsital.
