A 70-year-old Dutch tourist was rescued from the Caldera Blanca volcano yesterday after suffering an injury.
Emergency services were alerted at 12.45 and informed that a person had fallen in an area that is difficult to access.
Park rangers attended the scene, along with workers from the GES (Emergency Rescue Group), who called in a helicopter. The woman, who had suffered a twisted ankle and had pain in an arm, had her leg splinted and was airlifted to the Dr José Molina Orosa Hospital.
