69-year-old man killed by unmanned lorry

A 69-year-old man was killed yesterday when an unmanned lorry ran over him in Tahiche.

The driver of the lorry had left the vehicle to buy something from the chemist shop. It is not known whether he had applied the brake or whether they failed, but the lorry hit Rafael Pérez, who was walking his dog as usual and had paused to sit on a wall and talk to a neighbour.

Attempts to clear the victim out of the way of the lorry were unsuccessful and emergency services were called to retrieve the body and start an investigation.
