30 divers and 20 volunteers took to Los Ajaches on Saturday to take part in a beach clean-up day and focused on Papagayo and Mujeres beaches.

The volunteers collected heaps of plastics, cans, cigarette butts, bottles, metals and other polluting waste on the seabed and sand.

Mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, appreciates “the good work of the volunteers, who since 2018, have been involved in beach clean ups organised by Pura Vida diving and Kayak Lanzarote whom we offer municipal support as well as cleaning supplies.”

Environmental Councilor, Águeda Cedrés, who is also a regular volunteer highlighted, “the participation of children and adults to help preserve the environment that surrounds us. The Yaiza Ayuntamiento will continue to raise awareness about pollution through our current beach cleaning activities and more.
