British and German tourism is expected to increase by 5% this summer, according to analysis of the trade deals done at the recent Fitur travel fair.
Héctor Fernández, the Cabildo’s councillor for the Lanzarote Society for Overseas Promotion, also announced that domestic tourism from the Spanish mainland was expected to stay level.
Fernández also announced that Lanzarote had spoken to representatives from the USA, China, South Korea, Singapore, and Canada at the Madrid travel fair.
However, Fernández stressed that the priority of the island was to “look after what we’ve got” and said that one of the aims was to increase the average daily spend of tourists (including transport) to €250. It currently stands at around €160.
