A total of 22 Guardia Civil cadets will carry out the practical phase of their training in Lanzarote as part of a wider deployment aimed at strengthening policing during the busy summer season.
From today, 59 trainee officers have been assigned to the Guardia Civil Command in Las Palmas to begin the second stage of their training. Of these, 22 will be based in Lanzarote, 35 in Fuerteventura, and 2 in Gran Canaria, where they will reinforce existing units.
The practical training will last 40 weeks, giving cadets the opportunity to gain hands-on experience before qualifying as fully-fledged officers.
The deployment is intended to boost staffing levels during the summer months and help meet the operational demands of local units across the islands.
Across Spain, 3,123 Guardia Civil cadets are joining units this year, an increase of 390 recruits compared with the 2,733 who began practical training last year.
In addition, 874 cadets will complete part of their training in specialist units, including the Traffic Division, the Reserve and Security Group (ARS), the Border and Prosecutor’s Office units, and the Maritime Service.
