Arrecife is experiencing for a bustling week of cruise tourism, with a total of seven large ships and over 21,000 passengers due to have called into the capital by the end of the week.
The highlight of the week was the arrival of the impressive Explorer of the Seas on Wednesday, October 22nd, on its transatlantic voyage to Florida with 3,000 passengers on board.
The significant traffic reinforces a strong year for the port, with Arrecife recording a 10% increase in cruise passenger numbers through September, welcoming 372,503 visitors so far in 2025 according to statistics from the Port Authority of Las Palmas.
A Packed Schedule for the Capital
The Explorer of the Seas is just one of seven major cruise calls this week in Arrecife. The full list of arrivals for the rest of the week includes:
- Thursday, 23rd October: Azura
- Friday, 24th October: Spirit of Discovery and Costa Fortuna
- Saturday, 25th October: Norwegian Dawn, Britannia, and World Navigator
According to forecasts from the Port Authority of Las Palmas (APLP), the total stops this week will have brought a combined total of more than 21,000 cruise passengers to the capital, signalling “a vibrant period for the local economy”, according to Arrecife Ayuntamiento.
