A 40-year-old man, described as a Czech citizen with mental health problems, has been arrested after grabbing an 18-month-old baby girl from her grandmother in an Arrecife street.
The incident took place on the Avenida Eugenio Rijo Rocha in Titerroy at 2pm on Saturday, when the man seized the baby from the grandmother, causing cuts to the child’s neck.
Four men who were nearby chased the man and detained him, calling the police. However, he escaped again with the child and had to be captured once more.
Police arrested the man and took him to the Commission in Arrecife. The baby was taken to the hospital for treatment and her mother and grandmother were treated for anxiety.
