Indoor Crazy Minigolf, on Puerto del Carmens seafront, has been open for a year now. The only 18-hole course on the island, it’s small but perfectly formed and a fun way for adults and families to pass a bit of time.

The Indoor Crazy Minigolf course has been open for a year now, and is the idea of Paul Carroll, a well-known face in the resort for entertaining thousands at his Music Hall Tavern next door.

The idea came to Paul after Covid, when he suddenly had a lot of space freed up. So he got down to work, designed the course and transferred the first-floor room into an indoor golf course, with a bar.

And while it may technically be indoors, it’s located in a large, airy room with a perfect view of the blue sea and Puerto del Carmen’s famous Avenida de las Playas. There’s no feeling of being cooped up at all, and we were happy to be indoors when a rare rain shower sent the crowds on the Strip scurrying. Paul tells us that it’s not just for the odd grey day, though – “It’s shady. It’s like being on the Strip, but you don’t have to worry about getting sunburnt.”

Being located indoors also means that the holes remain absolutely pristine, with no leaves or debris; and although you’re out of the sun you never feel cooped up. The course also takes on another aspect after dark, as lights and glow-in-the-dark decoration enhance the experience.

We took a couple of putters and enjoyed a round on the varied holes, which include obstacles such as ramps, loop-the-loops, traffic cones and a lighthouse, and which ends with a one-shot pinball hole that could make or break the game.

Once we’d got into the rhythm of things, we started enjoying ourselves. Mini-golf is usually more luck than skill, but the course does require a bit of strategy, and each hole offers a different challenge. The artificial grass greens run true, and you get a scorecard to mark your performance.

After a memorable victory for the Gazette editor, who fought-back from a four-hole deficit to defeat our social media manager, we headed back downstairs to celebrate at the 19th hole (The Beach Pub).

It’s great fun. Give it a go!
