More than 20,000 people enjoyed Billy Capers’ Fabulous Fair in Arrecife at the start of September.

The free circus event transformed the Charco de San Ginés and Arrecife’s main shopping street, Calle Real, into a vibrant cultural and commercial centre throughout the weekend.

From Friday 5th September to Sunday 7th, residents and visitors enjoyed a full programme of family-oriented activities situated at the Solar de Ginory – a large area near the Charco de San Ginés that is usually used as a parking area. Events also took place on Calle Real, which became a space for family gatherings, cultural entertainment, and support for local businesses.

Among the highlights was the performance by internationally – renowned artist Karcocha, the Chilean clown and mime artist known as “the most viral harlequin in the world.” Karcocha’s antics brought laughter and smiles to the faces of people on Arrecife’s the Puente de las Bolas bridge and the city’s main shopping street.

Billy Caper’s fair was organized by Zukoabega Producciones and made possible with the collaboration of Arrecife City Council’s Department of Tourism and Events. The event was sponsored by the city council itself and received support from Promotur Turismo de Islas Canarias.

The Mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, highlighted the importance of these types of initiatives: “Billy Capers Fabulous Fair has demonstrated the enormous capacity that culture has to revitalize our city, attract visitors, and strengthen its commercial fabric. Arrecife is consolidating its position as an open, creative, and vibrant capital.”

The successful reception of the fair confirms Arrecife as a venue for major free cultural events, designed for all ages, and the aim is to continue to grow in this regard in future editions.www.billycapers.es
