Lanzarote airport has lost 2.1 million visitors in the first half of this year. In 2019, 3,591,000 passengers landed at the airport from January to June, but this year that figure was just 1,426,000.

The reason is obvious – during the whole of April, when the island
was under the strictest period of lockdown, just 3,142 passengers
arrived on the few remaining flights from the mainland. Although
figures are improving, they are still far below last year’s levels.
