The water desalination plant that broke down last week, leaving hundreds of households without water, has been repaired and “normal service” will be resumed by Tuesday, the Cabildo announced yesterday.
Cabildo President Oswaldo Betancort announced that the Lanzarote V plant had been fixed at 3.30 am on Monday morning “thanks to the efforts of the workers and no thanks to the operating company”.
The plant will now begin refilling supply deposits, with the expectation that normal service will be resumed by Thursday.
Referring to the recent decision to seize the water supply from Canal Gestión, Betancort said that “what has happened over the last few days underlines the need for us to intervene in order to rebuild a system that has been abandoned for years.
