Arrecife welcomed 111,736 cruise passengers in January, a 21.3% increase compared to the same month last year, according to data from the Port Authority of Las Palmas.

Arrecife Mayor Yonathan de León, who sits on the Authority’s Board of Directors, stressed that this increase is due to the fact that Arrecife is now a “home port for cruise shipping companies.”

The volume of cruise passengers in Arrecife represents 30.1% of the total for all ports in the province of Las Palmas.

In total, the province’s three cruise ports, Arrecife, Puerto del Rosario, and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, closed the month of January with 370,622 cruise passengers, 16.2% more than a year ago.
