Playa Blanca beach closure not due to sewage

Yaiza Ayuntamiento reopened Playa Blanca’s town beach on Thursday, after it was closed due to water contamination the previous Sunday.

Last Sunday, Playa Blanca’s town beach was closed again due to water contamination. However, despite claims from the Popular Party of Yaiza that it was due to sewage spills again, Yaiza councillor Daniel Medina told La Voz “it was water with chlorine from a swimming pool.”

Medina added that the pool was “probably emptied and reached the beach through the sewage system”, and “after the analysis of the water, the beach was reopened for bathing.”

The beach reopened this Thursday and was jam-packed that afternoon with bathers and swimmers enjoying the small beach once again.
