At this year’s Salón Gastronómico de Canarias, held in Tenerife, the Cabildo will pay tribute to the Gracioseros by featuring traditional La Graciosa foods.

La Graciosa will be the guest island at the 9th edition of the Salón Gastronómico de Canarias which will be held in Tenerife from May 21st to 23rd.

The Cabildo, through Saborea Lanzarote, will show all the professionals at the food fair the traditional and little-known food of La Graciosa, with recipes that, in many cases, have never left the island’s families and that will finally be seen on the big stage with dishes made by the best chefs from La Graciosa and Lanzarote.

La Graciosa will be the feature in the inauguration, officiated by the Cabildo president, Oswaldo Betancort, as well as in various presentations at the Heineken Stage and, of course, on its large stand.

Throughout the three days there will be tastings (gofio, cheeses), wine tastings and, as the main event, a showcase of traditional graciosera recipes that come out of the island for the first time.

Betancort, stated that “this prominence of La Graciosa in the event is very important for the island; but it is also important for the global Canarian gastronomic culture, to delve into the origins of subsistence, where the sea, and conservation systems allowed such a small and remote island to have developed as it has. With this action we intend to recover and launch the graciosera culture to improve, enhance and preserve it for the future”.
