PLZ21 have proposed a project for the future which, if approved, will improve the road up to Femés, making it not only wider but also giving cyclists their own lane separate to the road and passing cars.
For years residents and visitors have complained about the road, stating that it is too narrow to fit two lanes of cars and cyclists, as well as the turn at the top of the road being too sharp and awkward to turn through.
PLZ21 have proposed a number of roadwork projects on the island and have presented a plan for the Femés road which, if approved by the Cabildo, will see the road widened and a new the construction of a cycle/walking path separate from the road in which cars will drive on. Additionally, the turns at the stop of the road would be lengthened and made easier to turn through.

Maciot-Playa Blanca road improvements
The Cabildo’s Public Works Councillor, Jacobo Medina, has announced that the main road from the Maciot roundabout to Playa Blanca will be renovated “in the next few months.”
The works will include resurfacing and improvement of the road surface and margins on a long stretch of road stretching from the Maciot roundabout to the entrance to Playa Blanca. Works will cost around a million euros, however, no improvements will be carried out on the steeper section of road with hairpin bends connecting the roundabout to Femes.
