Arrecife Ayuntamiento has taken a significant step in its commitment to animal welfare by starting works that will result in a new 60 square metre space within their animal welfare centre which will be dedicated to interactions between dogs and potential adopters.

This initiative seeks not only to improve the living conditions of the animals housed at the shelter, but also to facilitate their adoption and promote a culture of responsible ownership by allowing potential adopters to spend time in a dedicated zone with the dogs.

The new space allows for a partial enclosure and provides an area to walk the dogs. In addition, a park has been set up so that the animals can play in a comfortable environment, equipped with sand, gravel and other elements.

Mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the Councillor for Animal Welfare, Jacobo Lemes Duarte, visited the work at the centre this Monday.

“We are committed to improving municipal facilities to ensure the welfare of our animals and this action is an example of our firm commitment to the implementation of the new laws of Animal Welfare,” the mayor stated.

“This initiative not only improves the quality of life of our animals, but also offers potential adopters the opportunity to meet them up close and establish closer contact,” De León said in closing.
